The Mystic Summer Program will include a dedicated men’s college rugby side. Participants will include developmental players from all over the country, including many players who came through the Mystic U-19 program over the past seven years.
The summer program will include access to the Mystic's home turf, training equipment, and top level coaching.
Training and coaching will be free.
Practices will begin May 15, 2012 at Pine Banks Park located at 1087 Main Street in Malden MA. Training will be held every Tuesday and Thursday from 8:00 PM - 10:00 PM through August.
We will be entering U-19, College and Men's Open teams into local 7's, 10's and 15's tournaments throughout the summer. We know it is summer so the program is flexible for you to show up when you can. Below is a list of tournaments:
June 9th: South Shore 7s (Braintree)
June 16th: Middlesex 7s (Woburn)
June 23rd: Springfield 7s (Springfield)
June 30th: Worcester 7s (Worcester)
July 8th: New England 10s (Acton)
July 14th: New Haven 7s (New Haven)
July 21st: Hell Gate 7s (NY,NY)
July 27th-29th: 39th Annual Can-Am Tournament (Saranac, NY)
The program will be coached by international player/coach Kayne Bubb who has been instrumental in the Mystic's five consecutive sweet sixteen berths in the Div. 1 USA Rugby National Championships, including two consecutive final eight berths in 2011 and 2012. Before joining the Mystics, Kayne played for New Zealand sides, including: North Harbour Marist Premiers 2007 – 2010, North Harbour “B” 2008, Ardmore Marist Premiers (Counties Manukau) 2003 – 2006, Counties Manukau ‘B”, 2004 - 2005, and Counties Manukau Colts 2003, Nelson Rugby Football Club Premiers 2002, Nelson Bay ‘B” 2002, Seddon Shield Maori Premiers 2002, and Nelson College 1st XV 2000 – 2001.
